OK, fine. I see how it is, fellow Stellar Four women. Let's just go ahead and dedicate this whole week to "How You Doin', October?"
The list of national monthlong observances are always lengthy and comically random, but I found several of October's designated celebrations on this list to dovetail nicely with all of the spooky, Halloween-ey things we love so much around here. And I've complied the most appropriate ones with suggestions for how best to celebrate them.
Adopt a Shelter Dog Month
You should absolutely adopt a shelter dog if you're in the market for a pet, and if you do, you should buy your new buddy a Bantha dog costume for Halloween.
National Bake and Decorate Month
Get your Halloween cupcake decorating ideas right here. I'm particularly fond of Frankenstein's monster.
Bat Appreciation Month
You'll certainly appreciate these cardboard cut-out bats adorning your walls. Dana Made It has the how-to.

In October, you're legally obligated to cover at least one apple in caramel, right? Here are some suggestions for super fancy toppings and whatnot.
German-American Heritage Month
Here. Enjoy some German ghost stories.
American Cheese Month
Maggot cheese is a thing that exists in this world. It is a cheese. With maggots in it. Clearly, this is what to serve at your next spooky party.
Italian-American Heritage Month
Here. Enjoy some Italian ghost stories.
National Field Trip Month
Plan a field trip to one of the scariest places on Earth, like the Mexican doll island.
Pear and Pineapple Month
The Pear Witch Project is the fruit snack you never knew you needed.
And I don't know what's going on with this pineapple, but it is certainly scary.
National Caramel Month
We've already covered (hey-oh!) apples. How about popcorn? Specifically Mars Bars candy bar caramel corn.
How weird that they'd have a month devoted to velociraptors. But they're terrifying, so they totally fit the October theme, and —
Wait, what? It's for the birds of prey? OK, fine. Their claws are pretty terrifying.
Mmmmmm ... blood sausage ...
Someday, I will make this Necronomicon pizza from Evil Dead. Yes. Someday I will.
