It's 2014, guys! Time to forget everything that happened in 2013 and focus on what really matters: BOOKS.
What, did you think I was going to say family or relationships or something? Please.
The Fifty Two Book Challenge is easy. You have to read fifty two books in 2014. In 2013, I beat the challenge and read 59 and 1/3 books! It was going to be sixty, but the holidays happened and you know how it is. Still, I won! I beat the PANTS off that challenge! I owned it so hard. This year I'm starting off a little behind because it's the eighth day of the new year and I haven't finished a single book. I blame it on the insane cold (I don't want to take my gloves off to read on the train) and just being a little burned out. I have tons of shiny new books but no real drive to start any of them yet. Book ennui.
What types of books count towards the Fifty Two Book Challenge? Almost anything! Fiction, non-fiction, e-books and e-novellas, graphic novels (the collected editions, not single monthly issues), manga and short stories. What doesn't count? Magazines, online articles, monthly single comic issues, newspapers, online comics. I'm also going to make an executive decision and say that academic papers don't count either. Sorry, grad students!
This is less a challenge and more of a way to easily revisit a series you keep meaning to read but can't find the time. Other series that would be perfect for this challenge are the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis, The Lord of the Rings series (plus the Hobbit!) from Tolkien or George RR Martin's Game of Thrones.
Oh, and your nightly reading WILL count towards the Fifty Two Book Challenge! Bonus!
So, what reading challenges are you embarking on this year?
