It Was a Long Week. Please Enjoy These Handsome Men Reading.

by Sara N.

I don't know about all of you, but I feel hungover. I was barely over my sugar rush from leftover Halloween candy when election day rolled around, and I gorged on all of that startchy, carby news coverage and the delicious salty tears of Facebookers lamenting the loss of their chosen candidates with a combination of muddled invectives and nasty name-calling.

What I'm saying is, the last week and a half has left me capable of doing nothing much more than laying on the couch in my comfiest pants, napping and listlessly flipping through an Entertainment Weekly. This clearly has affected my ability to write a meaningful post this week.

Nathan Fillion: Patron saint of smart, handsome, well-read men. Also, lucky bird.
As such, please enjoy these photos of handsome men from genre television and films as they peruse the reading material of their choice. Here's hoping they help you get over your Halloween rabble-rousing/leftover candy binging/election night newsing/Facebook gawking hangover.

Young Han Solo can read whatever gossipy rag he wants.

Harrison Ford

My multitasking nerd crush is probably learning a foreign language while reading and noshing. As always, though, I would like to encourage him to shave that hamster off of his lip.

James Franco

I ... I don't really know what's happening in this photo, but I'll allow it.

Jensen Ackles

I hope he only reads books with his picture on the cover.

That newspaper was probably better than the script he was working with.

Ewan McGregor

Is it wrong to want Mulder to read me a bedtime story every night?

David Duchovny

RDJ sneaks onto this list with a crossword puzzle because I'm a sucker for his lucky, pretty eyes.

Robert Downey Jr.
USA Today, Alan? Really? I always picture him reading, like, Proust.

Alan Rickman

This is the appropriate way to read the Financial Times, however.

Benedict Cumberbatch
Bonus content: Here's a vampire with a tabby ...

Ian Somerhalder
... a werewolf with a pomeranian ...

... and a rock god with an annoyed feline.

Freddie Mercury (who totally counts as a genre man because he did the soundtracks for Highlander and Flash Gordon.)
Please, allow these images to ease you into your weekend. I hope it's relaxing and full of books and/or pets.
