OK Go is a geek-tastic band that always manages to put out incredibly awesome music videos. They almost always go viral. Whether they're dancing on treadmills to making Rube Goldberg machines, their videos are always a visual delight and they've recently released their best one yet.
"Skyscrapers" is a dreamy, whimsical video that is just so shockingly beautiful. I can't even explain how gorgeous it is, how romantic and skillfully done. The premise is simple. Two people are doing a lovely tango against a changing background infused with a single color. Their clothes change to match the scene as they dance. It follows the natural progression of a rainbow, from sombre black, through bright oranges and pinks, to dreamy greens and deep, royal purples to end on simple white.
The dance is exquisite. The woman dancer is exceptionally skilled and every swish of her skirt and turn of her body is like magic. Her expression is wistful as she clutches onto her partner as they tango across the urban rainbow. There's something very sad and yet somehow oddly joyful about the whole thing. Her clothes are also very beautiful. I'd kill to have the two green dresses she wears.
The song is equally as wonderful; it adds to the dreamlike feel of the video. All together, it's an absolute perfect package. The song and dance were both thoughtfully produced and melded together. It's poetry.
