excerpt from A Memory of Light over on Tor.com today. This is the last book in the Wheel of Time saga written by Robert Jordan. Jordan died before he could finish his epic series and author Brandon Sanderson has taken over to finish it. He's working from notes and recordings made before Jordan's untimely death.
I am ridiculously excited to read this book, and at the same time, it's bittersweet. Sanderson breathed new life into the series. He made the female characters likable for the first time ever but never quite nailed the main character, Rand. Instead of the messiah, he strikes me sort of like The Big Lebowski after rehab - all of the zen, none of the cool. Nevertheless, I will probably buy this book in its meatspace form. That says a lot.
