Superhero Soup Will Save Your Dinner

by Sara N.

From Crackers on the Couch.
Food blog Crackers on the Couch recently featured a series of recipes that I think you'll all get a kick out of: Souperheroes.

Yep. Superhero-based soup.

Visit the blog to check out the recipes for Wonder Woman Watermelon Soup, Batman Black Bean Soup, Iron Man Roast Borscht, Incredible Minted Split Pea Soup and The (Yellow Split Pea Daal) Thing.

All of the recipes are written in an easy-to-follow way, and they all seem both manageable and tasty. Best of all, blogger Brooke at Crackers on the Couch has promised to continue her Souperhero recipes throughout the year.

The creativity made me want to brainstorm my own superhero soups, but all I could come up with were, well, pretty gross. Spider(egg)man Soup made of caviar? Night Owl Soup made of mouse bits? Or going in a different direction, Night Owl Soup made of leftover pizza and broken bits of Doritos? Walking Dead Soup made of ... you know, I think I'll leave this to the food blogger professionals.

So which superhero soup would you whip up?

  1. Captain America: Cold cranberry soup topped with circles of blueberry yoghurt and fresh vanilla cream for the shield.

Wolverine soup: Udon noodles dressed with a mentsuyu sauce mixed with a little bit of salted plum paste and powdered mustard, served with a double handful of whole, shell-on steamed crab legs.

Phoenix mock-Tom Yum soup: Chicken stock with lemon juice, sugar, garlic, ginger, and chili. Pour hot over cooked shredded chicken and serve.
