It's that time again - time to suggest some weekend reading! And guess what, folks, it's free!
A Gift of Ghosts by Sarah Wynde is our weekly read. And it's written by one of our Stellar Four readers, Wyndes! How awesome is that? Even more awesome, it's free on Amazon this Saturday!
Scientist Akira Malone has what one might call a great gift - or a debilitating curse. She can see and communicate with ghosts. Unfortunately, they can also see and communicate with her, and they aren't always gentle about it. Being a medium for the frustrated dead has had some terribly painful results for Akira, thus she hides her abilities from both the living and the dead. When she takes a job in a mysterious little town in Florida, Akira is dismayed to realize it's not her scientific mind her employers are after.
I know we read about ghosts and the people who see them last week but I love this work as a contrasting piece to the Charley Davidson series. For Charley, seeing ghosts is an unequivocally positive thing. For Akira, it's led to hellish consequences many times. I love how authors can have such vastly different takes on what it would be like to have a particular ability. (While it would be nice to be Charley, I'm guessing seeing ghosts would really be more like Akira's experience.) This book is a damn fine read. I loved it from start to finish and can't wait to read the sequel.
