In Case You Missed It: The Hunger Games Trailer

by Sara N.

If you tuned in to True Blood last night rather than the MTV's Video Music Awards and missed the Hunger Games teaser trailer, we've got you covered.

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit underwhelmed. Yes, it doesn't premiere until March. Yes, the movie is still shooting. No, I didn't expect to see the whole film laid out before me. (As much as I would've liked that.)

But I was hoping for more of a glimpse of, well, anything. The games arena. District 12. The Capital. The characters. The costumes. This was clearly a trailer for the book series' existing fans; I don't think it would be particularly compelling for anyone in the dark about the film.

Am I being too harsh? Did you have higher expectations, too?

  1. I think you're being way too kind by saying you were "a bit underwhelmed." This trailer - and they're using the term VERY loosely - is beyond disappointing. It isn't even a trailer. It's a chick running through the woods. I think it's pretty lame that they made such a big deal about the "trailer" being shown during the VMAs when that's all there was to it. Shame on you, Lionsgate!

  2. Yeah, it really doesn't show a single thing about what makes the books special, does it?

The only good thing I can say is that it's nice to hear Rue's song at the very end.

  3. Wow. That is so... disappointing. It's incredible how much better the fan-made clip that made the rounds last year is compared to the one from a real studio.

Lionsgate, track down whoever made this scene and bring them in to direct and cut your trailers!

  4. Agree-Underwelmed was a nice way to put it. I hope the movie is better than that.
Lionsgate usually has pretty good trailers. No, what if this is the best that they have ?!?!?!?!?!

  5. I've never read the book but it did seem more like a fanmade trailer than one that was released by the studio.

  6. I agree! It's not even a proper teaser - it doesn't actually tease. But my moviebuff boyfriend chided my when I uttered my disappointment, because apparently I didn't get how good the photography is and how thick the atmosphere. Okay, if he says so... But I'm still disappointed!

  7. I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't a sparkly vampire chasing Katniss in this trailer.
