Watch Tonight's Torchwood Right Now and Right Here!

by Megan S.

Yep, this tonight's episode right now and right here. Feel free to thank me in the comments.  Or, you know, a little something more appropriate like tell us what you thought of the first US-based Torchwood.

UPDATE: Looks like they're no longer allowing embedding. Check it out here, instead.

  1. Thanks! Here's my spoiler-lite thoughts.

Rex is a first class jerk.

Wasn't the 456 a public thing? They made it sound like a secret government operation. I'll have to dig out my Children of Earth DVDs.

You can see the American influence. I'm pretty sure there's more bang bang and explodeyness than your usual BBC show. When's Gwen doing the slo-mo walk away from an explosion?

Still, I'm looking forward to next week.

  2. Spoiler free response to Ghost:

Yep, he is a jerk. I don't remember for sure, but I think 456 wasn't totally public. They knew something was up but not the whole thing.

It did seem more grandiose than past seasons but the ending definitely felt more Torchwood-y which I was definitely happy to see.

    Spoilery response:

I'm actually glad America wasn't portrayed as the city cousins and Cardiff the country bumpkin. Having Rex be an ass, coming in ordering people about, made it seem like Torchwood was being true to it's roots rather than morphing into an American show.

  3. I get playing down the 456 to make it easier for new viewers. As long as you know Something Big happened, Torchwood was disbanded, and there's something unusual about Captain Jack (all of which is covered in the first episode), you can jump right in without too much.

Fortunately Nancy Drew, CIA Analyst, balances out Rex so we won't all seem like asses to the British viewers.
