Harry Potter Marathon Brings All Eight Films to the Big Screen

by Sara N.

Not excited enough about the final installment of the Harry Potter franchise finally hitting big screens? Theater chain AMC would like to help get you into the wizarding spirit.

AMC theaters in select markets will show all of the films back-to-back in the week leading up to the premiere of Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Two films will air each night from Monday, July 11, through Wednesday, July 13. On Thursday, July 14, Part 1 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will air, followed by the premiere of the final film in the series.

For $45, you get admission to all eight films, plus a commemorative lanyard and a retrospective booklet. (You'll have to provide your own round glasses, academic robes, striped scarves and lightning bolt scars.)

The Harry Potter event is coming to cinemas in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, St. Louis, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, to name a few. You can find a complete list of participating theaters here.

If you're lucky enough to live near one of the theaters, would you be tempted to devote your week to Harry, Ron and Hermoine? (Or Snape, depending on where your interests lie?) After all, there's nothing better than seeing an event film with a theater full of fellow fanatics; why not see eight of them in a row?

  1. Famous Players is doing something similar up here in Soviet Canuckistan (one a week for seven weeks rather than all at once, though), which is good for me since I seem to have missed several of them.

I'm still not very clear on what the whore crutches are.

  2. Cliche joke alert: In Soviet Canuckistan, does movie marathon watch you?

And whore crutches are for the patrons with a very specific fetish, obviously.

  3. Gah! It's playing at the Naperville AMC. That's about 25 minutes from my parents' house. It's also right near an Apple store.
