This Board Game Jewelry Will Score Fashion Points

by Sara N.

My friends and I are gamers. Not the video type. The board game type, particularly the European-style strategy games such as Agricola, Settlers of Catan, Carcassone and Ticket to Ride. My husband and I once spent two solid months playing multiple games of Race for the Galaxy every night until the symbols on those cards danced across my eyelids when I tried to fall asleep.

Given this, you can imagine my delight when I stumbled across these beauties. As a big fan of Settlers of Catan and a big fan of dangly earrings, these are like catnip to me. Look at the detail of each of the resources on those suckers! So tiny! So perfect! I would never, ever trade that sheep for wood.

Happily, I found many more game-inspired jewelry items, which you can roll the dice on (har!) after the jump.

I'm ridiculously sad that this Carcassone jewelry is sold out on Etsy. Do you suppose if we email the creator she'd make up a few more models? I adore the bright colors!

Everyone hates the robber in Catan. The people I play with generally behave as if they were tribal war lords, demanding tributes in order to keep them from placing the robber on your lucrative tracts of land. This is why I would dearly love to own not one, but two robbers, one for each ear. With two robbers, you would wield so much power. Sorry, Bob. You won't be collecting any wheat this round.

No gamer wants to get stuck without a D20 handy. With this handy necklace, you'll never leave home without it.

Now, I'm not a fan of Risk, but many of the gamers in my life love it. What's funny is that I didn't recognize these cufflinks as part of a Risk set for the longest time. It finally occurred to me that my Risk-playing friends stick with Risk 2210, which means the pieces focus less on cannons and more on space bases that will get them to the moon.

And really, weren't Scrabble tiles made to be converted to jewelry? The other acceptable non-game usage would be as projectiles when you lose to your obnoxious sibling.

Fans of childhood games, fear not. You can express your love for Candyland or, if you run a bit more to the macabre side, Clue. (I was always more of a fan of the lead pipe, myself. But the noose will do in a pinch, too.)

Speaking of morbid, how about a set of Ouija board cufflinks? Your wrists will have all of their yes or no questions covered. Sadly, a tiny planchette isn't included.

OK, now, let's be honest. Everyone kind of hates Monopoly. It's long and dull, and you never truly finish a game. People just wander away from it when they get terminally bored. If pressed, the only good thing I have to say about it is that the game tokens are cute. And that's exactly what makes this necklace so great; it captures the only cool thing about Monopoly. The little houses are fun, too.

Finally, no matter what games you play, the winner of your next gaming session should get to wear this little beauty as a badge of honor until the next time the group reconvenes.

So what games do you play? And what game-related jewelry do you wish you could someday find?

  1. I have a bracelet made from Clue pieces. (I'm totally obsessed with Clue - the board game, the movie, anything Clue related). It has weapons and a few game tokens. It's really kind of bulky and ridiculous, but I adore it.

  2. I bought my daughter a necklace made from a scrabble piece. And at the last Stumptown Comics Fest the guys that wrote King of RPG's comic book had a bunch of these for sale!!! My son literally bought the one from around Jason Thompson's neck *giggle*

  3. Cara, that is so cool! You know, I had an ulterior motive for putting this list together: It's also a shopping guide for my husband, should he need any gift ideas from here on out. Your Etsy find should be on that list, too!

  4. As clip on earrings mean that you don’t have to miss out on accessorising your ears, even if you don’t have your ears pierced, it makes them a staple item for any jewellery box, and they are sure to give the perfect finish to any outfit.
